So, they toyed with us for a few episodes. They've alluded that Margene and Ben might get together, especially in the promos. Even so far as having Ben discuss Margene's 'hotness' with Jason. Well, we found out on Monday that it isn't going to happen, that Margene has only mother-son love for Ben.
The reason I bring this up is to ask the question: Why would they bring this to such a screeching halt so soon?
Monday night, Bill and Nicki take a visit back to the compound. The summary from HBO.com is:
Bill and Nicki drive to Juniper Creek for a family reunion–and a council vote that Bill hopes to leverage against Roman in the case against Joey. Arriving at Lois's cabin, they are surprised to find her brother Eddie in residence, overseeing Lois's new laundromat investment.
Last season, Nicki was my favorite sister-wife. But, this season, Margene has become my favorite. Again, she shines in this episode.
It was an intersting plot device, with the time dilation field, to allow Carter and Jackson sufficient time to decifer the gifts from the Asgard, and for the crew to work out their relationships. It was an interesting way to progress the show relationships further without having another season. But, 50 years, wow!
Awhile back I posted about the prequel that introduces Margene, Meet the Babysitter. Well, this weekend HBO gives us all three prequels in Big Love: In The Beginning, for those of us who don't have Comcast on Demand.
The other 2 vignettes are Post-partum Depression and Moving Day.

I took my kids to see FF2 today, and they enjoyed it. People have to stop comparing Fantastic Four to Batman/Spider-man/X-men because they are completely different movies. Fantastic Four is more like Spy Kids or Shark Boy and Lava Girl.
Claudia Black, as Vala, gave an excellent performance in this one. When Vala was first added to show, I did not like her at all. This season, she has been the best part of the show. Even though at times, Vala was the cheeziest part of the show, she has really become a great characater.

Over at HBO.com they have an online game called Big Love Land. It is kind of a silly version of The Game Of Life with some trivia involved. It's a cute game, but it gets old fast. If you are a fan of the show, go on over and give it a try, if only for the trivia aspect. |
The second season of Big Love got off to a good start. Just as I expected, Nicki is starting to act as 1st wife, as Barb becomes reclusive and pulls away from the family (what's with the crossword puzzles?). Chloe Sevigny is excellent showing Nicki's real concern and love for the family, while at the same time her sneakiness in taking more control. The initial scene when she takes Barb's chair at the table was great.
