She’s finally moved from supporting to main character in ABC’s new drama, Flash Forward. TVGuide online posted an interview with this amazing actress. Here is part of the interview.

TVGuide.com: All right, when are you returning to Lost?
Sonya Walger: No idea. Not a clue. I don’t even know if I’m in the last season.

TVGuide.com: Do you think Penny should die in the end?
Walger: Are you saying in a sacrificial way, Penny needs to die? I hope not because Penny’s so great. There would be mass outcry, but you know what, they killed off Charlie, so anything can happen. I feel like her dad should be the one to bite it. I am not kidding.

Go on over and check out the entire interview. Sonya is one of the reasons I’m drawn to Flash Forward, and I’m looking forward to rest of the season. Also, I really hope we get closure with Penny on Lost.

Holloway will play Wino, the author’s ne’er-do-well high school buddy who encourages him to seek out his long lost high school flame.

This sounds like a great role for Holloway and could really show off his post-Lost talents. He’s mastered the Han Solo-like bad boy, and now has to begin to broaden his persona for once “Lost” ends its run.

I’m not familiar with Mark Polish, but it’ll be interesting to see Josh working with Chevy Chase and Sean Astin. What do you think of Josh’ talent? Will he be typecast as Sawyer?

More questions will be asked, more questions will be answered.

In the podcast they also describe that we’ll understand why the six are the six, and why they are lying about what happened. Who the other 2 survivors who ‘died after the crash’. Also, who put the bomb on the freighter, and why.

From what I’ve gathered, this 3-hour finale will wrap up a lot of things, and provide us with new questions. Next season should show the 6, et al., off the island and the struggles those who left behind face.

What are you looking forward to in this season finale? (no spoilers please as a synopsis of the finale has been leaked)

A few weeks ago, I wrote about who the oceanic six were going to be. Was that wrong? After this weeks episode, I wonder.

Jin can’t be part of the “Oceanic Six”. On his gravestone was listed 22 September 2004…the date of the plane crash. Therefore, he was considered either one of the 8 (as Jack described in Kate’s trial), or he died in the crash. But they said that we were going to know who ‘the six’ were by this week. So who are they?

I guess it is Aaron. I didn’t think it was before, but he is the only logical one left. So, Claire was one of the ’8′, and died after giving birth? That is the only theory I have. I wanted Jin to be one of ‘the six’ (even if he died in a flash-forward). We’ll have to wait and find out.

Both Prison Break and BSG at one time announced the basic outline for the completion of the show (although Prison Break seems to have changed their mind). Recently, the show runners, Lindelof and Cuse, have announced similar plans for Lost. The New York Post has:

“The flash forward is part of an overall plan for the show,” says Damon Lindelof, co-executive producer. “Season 4 is about who gets off the island and the fact that they need to get back. Season 5 is about why they need to get back, and season 6 is about what happens when they get back.”

I’m happy to see the path forward they are laying. Creatively, with a show like Lost, it is important to have a goal. Not knowing when the show would end I believe caused many of the missteps in season 2 and 3.

There many who do not believe that Lindelof and Cuse have an overarching plan, but those people are nothing more than trolls. Early on the producers stated their plan with an analogy. They are taking a trip from New York to Los Angeles with plan stops in between. But, along the way they may take detours and make unplanned stops. I trust that statement, and if you look critically at the show, it makes sense.

Lost is far from my favorite show on television right now, but it is solid entertainment and one of those shows that will looked upon in the end as a foundation for 21century television.

Every episode this season Lost has given us more pieces to the puzzle. Eggtown was definitely one of them. Even though future-Kate was a little dry, they still provided a good episode. By the way, I discuss spoilers because the “mystery” spoilers don’t bother me.

We know that the “Oceanic 6″ are Jack, Kate, Hugo, Sayid, Jin and Sun. Also, that the Aaron, and possibly Desmond, also make it off the island but are not part of the “6″ (for obvious reasons). In this episode, they tried to misdirect us and indicate that the baby was Kate and Sawyer’s child. There will be those fans who insist this is still true, but of course it is not. It is Aaron, Clare’s son. The reason Jack has problems with the child must have something to do with the circumstances in which Kate gets the baby.

The only new mystery that has me curious is who came up with the cover story (Jack retells during the trial), and why they need to cover it up. To me, that it the important question this season. There must be a strong reason that they keep the secret. We’ve seen that keeping the secret ruins Hugo and Jack. Even in all their despair they still keep the secret. Why?

It was nice to hear in the official podcast a slight confirmation to my theory about the island. If you’ve ever read the “Narnia” books by C.S. Lewis, you’ll know what I mean. Since the beginning of the show, there have been themes and events in Lost that related to Narnia, how it was created, how you travel between realms, and the differences in the passage of time. The producers have already admitted they name new characters as homage to themes in the story. With the new character, Charlotte S. Lewis, and discussions in the official podcast, this parallel is becoming more real.

I really enjoy Lost, and I hope that the show-runners don’t get too generous and start pandering to the fans with too many reveals. I don’t want ‘the journey’ to be ruined.

Many were surprised during the season premier to hear of the “Oceanic Six”. Those who read TV blogs knew that Jack, Kate and others were part of this famous troop of “survivors” way before it was revealed on ABC. We even know who they are…

When it comes to spoilers, I don’t mind spoilers on Lost. What has always intrigued me on Lost was the character development and personal interractions that take place, not what “the monster” is. So, knowing that the “Oceanic Six” are Kate, Jack, Hugo, Jin, Sun and Sayid doesn’t ruin the show for me. The “spoiler” that does ruin the show for me was blurted out by Hurley in the last episode.

When Hugo said, “I should have stayed with you”, it ruined a perfectly good character driven story. I would have liked not knowing that Hugo changes his mind, now I’ll just be waiting for the moment when he realizes he was wrong. Or the moment that “they” show us we are wrong. Character development is what drives the show. If the producers continue to cater to the most vocal fans and not the story, the show will be nothing but reveals, and surprises. I don’t care what the giant foot is, or whether or not they are in purgatory. I want character development.

I was happy with the Lost season premiere. Yes, it was a setup episode, but a good one. I believe it helped set the stage for this season, and pushed the ‘flash-forward’ mythology in the direction. But, I did have a few issues with the episode, but more the show altogether.

First of all, as I’ve been saying since season one…why don’t they talk to eachother? Desmond, Hurley and company settle the “not Penny’s boat” issue within seconds. Interrupting eachother to work out the issue. Even when they come across lock, the situation is handled. But, when they get to Jack, nobody says anything. They allow Jack to beat, and nearly kill, John without explaining the situation. Had the gun been loaded, John would be dead. Yes, it was done for story purposes, but this has been done way too much over the years, and they rely on it too often. At the end of the episode, Jack still doesn’t know what happened to Charlie and how he “changed his mind”.

The other is at the end when Hurley told Jack that he wished he went with Jack instead of Locke. I didn’t want to know that. That fact was a great character development story that would have had us guessing who was right and who was wrong. Instead of obsessing over the stupid mythology questions (i.e. Christian Sheppard).

Even after that, I still enjoyed the episode and am looking forward to this week.

This past fall, a show debuted on Showtime called “Tell Me You Love Me”. It was controversial because of the explicit depiction of sexuality, but my wife and I found it honest and interesting. It was well produced, and amazingly acted. One of the standouts was Carolyn, played by Sonya Walger of “Not Penny’s Boat” fame.

At first, it was difficult to remember where we had seen this actress before. She was always familiar, but on Lost I attributed that to her resemblance to Juliet. But we finally realized that this was the same actress we’d seen on numerous other shows.

Now Sonya is a semi-regular background character in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Though only is a couple of scenes, again she is pulling in a great performance. I hope that her character is featured in future episodes. With Lost, Tell Me You Love Me, and now Sarah Connor, Walger is slowing emerging into the TV viewer’s consciousness.

The current rumors are that both Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) and Peter Stormare (Prison Break) are being sought to play 2 news roles in Lost.

Ask Ausiello

I can tell you for a fact that Kristen's name has been brought up with regard to the new role of Charlotte, the hot twentysomething who is said to be "precocious, loquacious and funny… a very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world." Yep, sounds like our Kristen!

Lost Spoiler Blog

I'm translating Stormare: "They want me one season and I've have to decide within a month" He also says it's difficult to do a tv-show because thats all you do for a year and he wants to stay open for roles in movies.

This is great. Kristen Bell is an awesome actress, and only needs more exposure. Lost is the perfect vehicle for her, and it would be a great edition to the cast.
