I, like most, found out via Twitter. The cast did a great job of building suspense with their constant updates throughout the evening.

Of course, Joss winning an Emmy is a long time coming, but I bet this one is extra sweet for him. Not just for being his first, but Doctor Horrible belongs completely to them, not to any studio. I really hope that he returns to the web again. A crossover talent like him can really legitimize online video, and get the word out that there is real quality on the net. We need another Horrible-esque show from the Wheadons. They say lightning doesn’t strike twice, but I get Joss can come close.

It would have really been nice to see this on the Primetime Emmy Awards. There are still people who haven’t seen, or even heard of Dr. Horrible. Maybe with NPH hosting, we’ll get some allusion to his alter ego. Congratulations to everyone involved.

If you’re like me, you’ve already made your own version of this via AudioHiJack Pro or similar application. These songs are so incredibly catchy and entertaining that my 7 year old daughter walks around singing them (and she’s only seen the show twice). If anyone every thought that “Once More, With Feeling” was a lucky shot for Joss, Dr. Horrible should put those nay-sayers in their place.

The track listing is:

01. Horrible Theme

02. My Freeze Ray

03. Bad Horse Chorus

04. Caring Hands

05. A Man’s Gotta Do

06. My Eyes

07. Bad Horse Chorus (reprise)

08. Penny’s Song

09. Brand New Day

10. So They Say

11. Everyone’s A Hero

12. Slipping

13. Everything You Ever

14. Horrible Credits

Also, Joss has posted liner notes and lyrics over at the Dr. Horrible site. Now you can “sing-along”.

I already have “Bad Horse” as my ringtone.

Much news abound about the upcoming Joss Whedon “Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”. With the teaser trailer release, the Official Website has been launched. The site itself is a tease itself with links to various social networking sites to include Dr. Horrible in your life.

Also on the site is news from Joss outlining his plans for <del>world domination</del> release. Included in this plan is:

ONE WEEK ONLY! AN INTERNET MINISERIES EVENT!

“Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” will be streamed, LIVE (that part’s not true), FREE (sadly, that part is) right on Drhorrible.com, in mid-July. Specifically:

ACT ONE (Wheee!) will go up Tuesday July 15th.

ACT TWO (OMG!) will go up Thursday July 17th.

ACT THREE (Denouement!) will go up Saturday July 19th.

All acts will stay up until midnight Sunday July 20th. Then they will vanish into the night, like a phantom (but not THE Phantom – that’s still playing. Like, everywhere.)

I’ve been excited about this production since the first mention of it. Grass-roots, online entertainment needs to be recognized, and someone like Joss can bring it to the forefront. He didn’t do anything that anyone else couldn’t (or have in the past), but I think he will make it popular, and bring mainstream attention to the venue.

The idea was to make it on the fly, on the cheap – but to make it. To turn out a really thrilling, professionalish piece of entertainment specifically for the internet. To show how much could be done with very little. To show the world there is another way. To give the public (and in particular you guys) something for all your support and patience. And to make a lot of silly jokes. Actually, that sentence probably should have come first.

Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day, and Neil Patrick Harris are wonderful entertainers, and I believe will bring us a wonderful and entertaining week. What do you think?

It goes like this. Over the WGA Strike, Joss Whedon got bored and starting developing a little web-show he called “Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”. I’m not sure what he expected, but Horrible is getting a lot of buzz on the internet, and is shaping up to be something great.

“Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” will star Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible, Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer, Felicia Day as Penny and a cast of dozens.”

Neil Patrick Harris as a low rent supervillain is a stroke of genius. If you’ve ever seen him as Barney on How I Met Your Mother or in the Harold and Kumar movies, you would agree. Over the years, Harris has been consistent, and recently consistently funny. This is the most exciting bit of casting.

Then there is Nathan Fillion as the “hero”. Another great bit of casting. With all the work that Joss has done with Nathan over the years, you wonder if he wrote Captain Hammer with him in mind. Fillion is an underrated actor who just can’t seem to cut a break. Both “Firefly” and “Drive” were cancelled before their time, and “Slither” was sinfully overlooked. Hopefully his recent success on “Desperate Housewives” is just the start.

Felcia Day is less known but has been a guest on many shows in the past. She looked familiar, and then I realized I remembered her from her short time on Buffy as Vi. I went back and watched a couple of the episodes and realized why I still recognized her. Her perfect portrayal of Vi is what made her the most memorable of the “potential slayers”.

I am very much looking forward to this “little internet project” of Joss’. Hopefully, it’ll turn out to be bigger.

For the latest news on Doctor Horrible go on over to the “official” fan site DoctorHorrible.net.

Last night on Desperate Housewives had its ups and downs. There were three main story lines; Danielle’s baby, Mike’s Dad, and Lynette’s cancer. One was good, one was bad, and one was awful. The Gabby/Carlos story did progress, but nothing we didn’t expect.

Danielle’s pregnancy took a very funny turn tonight when Bree became her Halloween costume. Her imitation of Bree was hilarious, and excellently acted by Joy Lauren. Cross’s interaction with her Danielle in the final scene was amazing, and really brought the Bree/Danielle relationship full circle. It was a little obvious that the only reason they needed Nathan Fillion to deliver the baby was to get the Frankenstein picture (left). It was kind of offhanded. But, it didn’t ruin it for me at all.

The way that Lynette’s cancer reveal was handled was very awkward. It wasn’t immediately evident what parallels they were trying to draw, and her sudden obsession with an opossum seemed out of left field. This was a necessary story for her, but could have been handled a little better. I read that there was some footage left on the cutting room floor of Lynette at the hospital that could have made it better. Maybe they should have left it in and cut out more of Susan’s story.

Or cut out all of Susan’s story. This entire event was just terrible. They went a very long way to show that Susan has misgivings about Mike, and that Mike may or may not be hiding a drug problem from Susan. That could have been accomplished in much less screen time, with much less pain. At no time was Susan ever in the right, which made this very poor. Teri Hatcher continues to get the worst writing on the show.

In all it was a good episode, except for the overly drawn out part of the Susan/Mike fiasco.
