Over at The Hollywood Reporter there is an article with several casting announcements. “Nip/Tuck”, “Caprica” and 90210.

On the upcoming sixth season of “Nip/Tuck,” [Katee] Sackhoff (”Battlestar Galactica”) will play Dr. Theodora “Teddy” Lowe, a new doctor who challenges Sean (Dylan Walsh). She will appear in four episodes. Also set to appear in the FX drama is Morgan Fairchild, who will play a movie star in one episode.

She missed CSI and landed “Nip/Tuck”. This is interesting as I believe her acting style fits well with “Nip/Tuck”. She seems to thrive on playing edgy, and the FX drama will give her that chance.

“90210″ centers on the Mills, a three-generation Beverly Hills family. [Rob] Estes will play the father, Harry Mills, who takes a job as principal of West Beverly High, his alma mater, after he moves his family from Kansas.

Estes is no stranger to the 90210 universe, where he played Kyle on “Melrose Place”. It’s interesting casting, but I don’t see it as bringing in new viewers. I felt they needed to go big to bring in those who feel they’ve outgrown 90210.

On the “Galactica” prequel “Caprica,” [Polly] Walker (”Rome”) will play Sister Clarice Willow, the gracious, eloquent and duplicitous high priestess and headmistress of the Athena Academy, a private religious school.

“Caprica” casting has been moving strong. I hope that they go with a slightly different feel for the prequel and don’t simply translate BSG back in time. The quality casting is continuing with Polly; I like the trend.

On “House,” [Michael] Weston (”Scrubs”) will play P.I. Lucas, a private investigator who is as intelligent but not as abrasive as Dr. House (Hugh Laurie). After a trial in a multi-episode arc, the character could become a regular on the hit Fox medical drama or become the center of a spinoff series.

Can Weston lead an entire show? I’m familiar enough with him to know if he could helm the House-spinoff.

A lot of casting news this morning. Good news? Bad news?

At TVGuide.com Michael Ausiello has some casting news for the new season of Nip/Tuck which premieres 30 November on F/X.

Portia de Rossi will be joining the cast for nine episodes playing a lesbian mom whose teen daughter wants to go under the knife [and] John Schneider has been cast as the head of a major adult-video empire who previously worked with ex-porn princess Kimber.

The TVGuide.com article does contain spoilers. Portia de Rossi is in for almost half the season, and has a major storyline involving another regular cast member. Her addition to the cast is an interesting one. Most of Portia's roles have been comedic, and is most well known for Arrested Development and Ally McBeal. She is a strong actor and has the right look for the show, but does she fit?

John Schneider currently is only cast in a single episode. I'm just glad to see John getting some work. He is a highly underrated actor whose presence on Smallville has been greatly missed. I hope that his arch gets extended.

This season is already shaken up with the move from Miami to Los Angeles, which will undoubtedly change the shows undertones some, but I am still looking forward anticipating the new season. What do you think about the cast? How about the move to LA?

Cooper is terrific. He even stood out against Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers. Fans of Alias will remember him as Sid's good friend Wil.

I was leary about the 'moving to L.A.' thing with Nip/Tuck, but announcements like this keep me interested.

The eight-figure pact includes a commitment for Murphy to continue on the hit FX series for three more seasons. He also will develop new drama and comedy projects through a three-year overall deal with 20th TV, which begins immediately and includes a first-look component with FBC.

It is almost never a bad idea to keep the creator of a show to stick around for the long haul. Also, having the security of knowing you have 3 more years should help with the shows direction.

The only part of the article that makes me nervous is that next seaons will be 22 episodes instead of the usual FX season of 13-15. I hope that this doesn't cause the season to drag.
